Dolores L. Bird

Dolores L. Bird, age 83 of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 6:15 P.M. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at her residence in Monmouth. She was born on January 31, 1935 in Aledo, Illinois, the daughter of Russell E. and Ethel Elizabeth (Wilson) Sage. Dolores was educated in Aledo, IL and Davenport, IA, graduating from Davenport High School. She attended college and obtained her Associates of Arts degree. On June 22, 1953, she married John W. Bird in Davenport, IA and he preceded her in death on April 5, 2011. Dolores was a homemaker. She also lead several Churches in the area. Dolores enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, and walking her dogs. She is survived by one daughter, Melanie Brewer of Chandler, AZ, three sons; Garry (Mary) Bird of Urbana, IL, Randy Bird of Peoria, IL, and Bryan (Jennifer) Bird of East Peoria, IL, eight grandchildren; Caleb, Jacob, Trisha, Luke, Jonathan, Matthew, Joshua, and Thomas, six great-grandchildren, and one sister, Verla of Des Moines, IA. A number of other relatives are also surviving. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, and one brother, Wendell Sage.
