Donald L. Allard, age 77, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at Galesburg Cottage Hospital on Saturday April 20, 2013 at 11:33 am. Donald was born on May 30, 1935 in York, Nebraska and is the son of Clemencia Erald Wright and Garrett David Allard. Don was raised in Springfield, Illinois and then came to Rock Island, IL. where he attended school. He attended Corpus Christi Catholic School in Galesburg and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1953. Donald was married to Barbara A Johnson on December 18, 1953 in Monmouth, Illinois and she passed away July 30, 2000. Don enlisted in the United State Air Force in 1956 attaining the rank of Staff Sargent and serving as a Fueling Specialist during the Korean War. Donald had a number of employments including Western Stoneware in Monmouth where he was a kiln specialist for a number of years. Donald was an avid St.Louis Cardinals fan. He loved his family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving him are three daughters, Karen (Mark) Mantwell of Streamwood, IL; Barbara Allard of Galesburg, IL; and Cathy Allard (Rod Frick) of Seaton, IL. Two sons, Donald R. (Liz) Allard of Aurora, IL. and Andrew G. Allard of Sierra Blanca, TX. There are five granddaughters, one grandson, and six great grandchildren surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers. Services:Cremation is to be accorded and at the present no service is being planned, according to his wishes.
