Donald K. Anderson

Donald K. Anderson, 72, of Monmouth, passed away at 3:38 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on November 28, 1935 in Evanston, Illinois. He is the son of Nels Elvir and Edna Violet Loomis Anderson. He was reared and educated in Northfield, Illinois and attended Newtrier High School, graduating in 1953. He then attended Greer Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Donald served his country, being a member of the United States Army Reserve. He married Linda Lee Marx on January 20, 1973 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Donald was the chief engineer at the Furniture Mart in Chicago, Illinois from 1962-1985. He then moved to Miami, Florida where he was involved in building of the Centrust skyscraper, concurrently. he was also the owners representative to the building of the 96' Berger Boat. Don was then the director of facilities in a number of hospitals in the Florida area. He retired in January of 2003. He is a member of the Local 399 International Union of Operating Engineers. He was an avid wood worker and canoe builder out of his home. Don was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and boating. He was the best father and friend. Survivors include his wife, Linda L. Anderson of Monmouth, two daughters; Christine E. and Jeff Feldman of Plainfield, Illinois, and Amy L. Anderson of Hainesville, Illinois, two sons; Don K. Anderson, and Kurt K. and Mary Anderson of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Also surviving are two brothers; Nils R. and Julia Anderson of Austin, Texas, and Jon D. Anderson of Fresno, California, and six grandchildren. Services:A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. to receive friends. Memorials can be made to the Stained Glass Window Restoration at the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth.
