Donald P. Bowling

Donald P. Bowling, age 81, of Galesburg, formerly of Monmouth, passed away at 10:10 a.m. August 4, 2011 at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Ill. He was born on February 22, 1930 the son of Otis Bonaparte and Nadine Palmer Bowling. He was reared and educated in Monmouth and attended Monmouth schools. Donald married Kathryn Louise Bundren on June 17, 1955 in Monmouth, she survives. Donald worked for the City of Monmouth Water Department for over 40 years. He enjoyed traveling, especially out west, tinkering and fixing things. Donald is survived by his wife Kathryn of Galesburg, his children; Debra Rock (Allen) of Chattanooga, Tn., Donald Bowling of Galesburg, Otis David Bowling (Tammy Easley) of Galesburg, and Richard Bowling of Galesburg. Also his grandchildren; Jennifer Monroe (John) of Brighton, Mi., Heather Rock of Saratoga Springs, Ny., Ariel Rock of East Lansing, Mi., and Allison Bowling of Burlington, Ia. Also surviving are his great grandchildren; Cannon Palmer Monroe of Brighton, Mi., and Katlin Olivia of Burlington, Ia. His brothers; Gary Bowling (Denise) of Monmouth, and Larry Bowling (Betty) of Moline, Ill., one sister Jean Norton of Santa Maria, Ca. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Donald's family will be present Tuesday evening at Turnbulls from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. to receive friends. A memorial fund has been established by his family and will be designated at a later date.
