Donald R. Caldwell, 84, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, September 12, 2008, at his residence. Donald was born on January 3, 1924, in Monmouth, the son Theodore and Lottie Caldwell. He was raised in Monmouth and attended Monmouth Public Schools. Don served in the United States Army during World War II. Don married Charlene Belt on January 3, 1940 in Kahoka, Missouri. She survives He first worked as a route man for Maple City Dairy for several years. Don was employed as a bus driver by Cavanaugh Bus Service in Monmouth for 38 years. He was a past member of the Monmouth American Legion. Don's joys in life were driving the bus and his twin great great granddaughters. Surviving Don is his wife Charlene Caldwell of Monmouth, one son Terry Lee Caldwell of Mundelein, Illinois, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and one sister-in-law Dorothy Blake of Monmouth, several nieces and nephews. Preceding him are his parents, one daughter Judy Edwards, one son Donald J. Caldwell, 4 sisters and 5 brothers. Services:A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. His family will be present to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00.
