Donald E. "Farmer" Browne

Donald E. "Farmer" Browne, age 85, of Cameron, Illinois, passed away at 8:04 P.M. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Richard Owen Hospice House in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on November 2, 1932 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Harold and Mabel (Ischer) Browne. He attended Muddy Corners Grade School and was a 1950 graduate of Abingdon High School. Don proudly served his Country during the Korean Conflict, stationed as a linesman in Colorado with the United States Army. He was previously married to Jacqueline E. Meythaler. He later married Barbara Pearcy on September 23, 2005 in Galesburg, IL. Don was the third generation to work the family farm South of Cameron, Illinois. In 1966, he was named Outstanding Young Farmer in Warren County. For many years, Don served the Floyd Township Board. He was also a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau, the Board of Directors of Berwick Grain, and Future Farmers of America. Don was a forty year member of the Lake Bracken Country Club of Galesburg. He loved to golf and once shot a hole-in-one while golfing with friends in Arizona. Don is survived by his wife Barbara Pearcy Browne of Galesburg, IL, one daughter, Lisa (John) Junk of Woodhull, IL, one son, Scott (Donna) Browne of Berwick, IL, two step-sons; Mark Mendez of West Palm Beach, FL and Scott (Terry) Mendez of Phoenix, AZ, one sister, Mildred Peck of Galva, IL, four grandchildren; Bryan (Tiffany) Browne, Kylie (Tim Smith) Browne, Brady Junk, and Elizabeth Junk. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren; Ryker and Braylen Browne. Don is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother. A funeral service is planned for 1:00 P.M. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Military Honors will be given at the funeral home. Don's family plans visitation from 2:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded after the service. A memorial fund is being established for the Abingdon First Responders orSt. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
