Donald " Pete " E. Skees

Donald E. "Pete" Skees, age 59, of Monmouth, passed away on May 25, 2012 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois at 11:00 pm. He was born on June 27, 1952 in Monmouth and is the son of Bruce W. and Verla M. Sharp Skees. Pete was raised in Monmouth and attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School class of 1971. Pete served in the military as Military Police from 1971 to 1974. He first married Debbie Bethell, then later was married to Penny Marie Ray on June 30, 2007 in Monmouth, IL and she is surviving. Pete has been employed for 32 years at Farmland Foods in Monmouth to the present time. He loved fishing, canoeing, and running bank lines. Pete is survived by his wife, Penny of Monmouth; four sons Pete (Tonia) Skees of McHenry, IL, Jeremy (Carrie) Skees and Jason (Kara) Skees both of Macomb, IL and step son, Jamie Rosenbalm of Silvis,IL. One step daughter, Genie Ray of Kewanee,IL Eleven grandchildren and his very special friend and cousin,Ike Skees of Monmouth, IL. Six sisters survive, Joan (Gary) Cochran of Oquawka, IL; Diana Narmi of Monmouth, IL; Sharon (Dean) Hennenfent of Alexis, IL; Patricia (Pete) Robertson of Monmouth, IL; Jackie Icenogle of Monmouth, IL; and Leila (Jim) Sloan of Monmouth, IL. One brother Bruce Skees of Monmouth is also surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents, two brother in laws, Gary Icenogle and Ronnie Ray, and nephew Tommy Chenault. Services:Visitation will be on Thursday May 31, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service is planned on Friday June 1, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Interment with full military honors will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. Memorial contributions are for his family.
