Donald F. Tatman

Donald F. Tatman, age 78, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 8:35 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. He was born on November 11, 1936 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of James and Madge (Ostrom) Tatman. Don was reared and educated in Monmouth where he attended Monmouth Schools and Monmouth High School. On June 14, 1957, Don married Phyllis Griffin in Kirkwood, Illinois and she is surviving. Don began work as a carhop at Staley's Restaurant here in Monmouth. He then worked for both the Ford Garage and Chevy Garage. Don worked together with his brother Robert in the auto sales business until they separated to start their own businesses. Don and Phyllis owned and operated Don Tatman Auto Sales in Monmouth for 35 years from which they retired in 2013. Don enjoyed going to flea markets and gun shows. He very much enjoyed fishing and hunting. Don is survived by his wife Phyllis of Monmouth, one daughter; Denise Tatman of Monmouth, two brothers; Robert (Mary) Tatman and Richard (Janet) Tatman, both of Monmouth, and one granddaughter; Jessica Campagna. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; Charles, Raymond, Melvin, Howard, Harold, and two sisters; Erma and Lena. Visitation 9:00-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Memorials are being established for the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Fund.
