Donna D. Murphy

Donna D. Murphy, age 80, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 3:35 pm on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on April 29, 1935 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Hans C. and Lola E. (Drew) Anderson. Donna was raised in Monmouth and attended school here. She graduated from Monmouth High School with the Class of 1953. On May 20, 1961, Donna married John L. "Bud" Murphy in Springfield, Illinois and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2004. Donna began work at the Monmouth Pottery. She later worked at the Monmouth Telephone Company as an operator and at Monmouth Hospital as a nurses aid. Donna was always a full time mom. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Donna most loved spending time with her family. Donna is survived by three daughters; Debbie (Arlie) Newland of Galesburg, IL, Tina (Brad) Elliott of Monmouth, IL, and Toni (Larry Wright) Forbes of Dahinda, IL, one son; Gary L. (Barbara) Wiley of Monmouth, IL, twelve grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and two sisters. Visitation Her family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for Parkinson's Disease Research.
