Doris M. Dehner

Doris M. Dehner, age 82, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home on January 6th, at 6:12 am. Doris was born on June 18, 1931 in Kane, PA and is the daughter of William Arthur and Mabel Mae Ross Dehner. She was raised in Burningwell, PA where she was raised and educated through High School. She was the " Soul Mate " of Robert L. Dehner by which she had her children. Doris attended both First Christian Church and Grace Bible Church of Monmouth, Illinois. She began work as a homemaker in her own home, and later was employed for a number of years by the State of Illinois at the Galesburg Research Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois until it closed. She then became a Certified Nurses Assistant and was employed by Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth, Illinois. She then moved to Pennsylvania in 1983 where she did babysitting and cared for the elderly. In 2008 she returned to Monmouth to reside. Doris never knew a stranger and her passion was her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Dixie Churn and Denise M. Blackman both of Monmouth, Il. and four sons, Steven L. (Polly) Dehner of Bradford, PA.; William R. (Lori) Dehner of Colo, IA.; Rodney Dehner of Monmouth, IL.; and Larry Dehner of Bradord, PA. There are ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren surviving. One brother survives, John Shall of Allegheny, N.Y. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, one grandson, two brothers, and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be on Thursday January 9, 2014 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois at 2:00 pm. Her family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for the Monmouth Nursing Home.
