Doris V. Henrichs, age 91, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 2:30 pm on December 27th, at her home in Monmouth, Illinois. Doris was born on May 18, 1920 in Hancock County in rural Colusa, Illinois and is the daughter of Victor Newton and Inez Lucille Browning Riley. She was raised in the rural schools of Hancock county and graduated from Colusa High School. She then attended Western Illinois University Teachers College in Macomb where she received a Bachelors' degree in Commercial Education. Doris married Leonard Fredrick Henrichs in 1944 . Doris began work teaching in rural Hancock County Schools then taught at Golden High School in Adams County for several years. She then moved to Tucson, Arizona where she served as Secretary for Tucson Christian Church for a time. She then moved to Ajo, Arizona until returning to Macomb, Illinois and then to Monmouth, Illinois in 1951. Doris taught school at Lincoln School for a number of years and also taught in the towns of Freeport and Woodstock, Illinois over a period of more than forty years. Doris also was one of five who founded " Starting Point Prayer Group, Inc." the core group of "Starting Point" and also Genesis Christian Bookstore both in Monmouth, Illinois. Doris was active in this organization until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and was a member of it's Thai Circle. She also was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Business and Professional Women, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving is one daughter Constance M. Stewart of Monmouth, and two grandsons Len Gryphon and David E. Bartlett. There are three granddaughters. Also surviving is on sister Cheryl Owings of Carthage, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Judith Ann Sticklen, one brother and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday January 2, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery in LaHarpe, Illinois. No visitation hours are planned and memorial contributions are to Jamieson Center of Monmouth.
