Doris L. Sebastian

Doris L. Sebastian, age 87, of Gladstone, Illinois; passed away at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 9:52 pm. She was born on August 14, 1928 in Olena, Illinois, the daughter of Marvin and Flossie (Mapes) Booton. She was reared and educated in the Country Schools of Olena and graduated from Stronghurst High School with the Class of 1944. On October 20, 1950, she married Charles C. Sebastian in Macomb, Illinois and he preceded her in death on August 11, 1976. Doris began work at Sylvania in Burlington, IA and later worked for Antenna Craft in Burlington, IA. She was lastly employed in the housekeeping department of the Burlington Medical Center until her retirement. Doris was a member of the Gladstone United Methodist Church. She enjoyed line dancing at the Gladstone Health Care Center. Doris also enjoyed doing handwork and enjoying birds; especially cardinals. Doris is survived by one daughter; Reita (Delbert) Furnald of Oquawka, IL, one son; Byron (Alice) Sebastian of Oquawka, IL, nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. One brother; Earl Booton of Stronghurst, IL survives. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Terry, and two brothers. Visitation A visitation is planned from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will follow the service at the Biggsville Township Cemetery. Memorial may be left to Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst or to animal rescue.
