Doris M. Stoneking, age 80, passed away at 6:05 a.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Ia. She was born on June 22, 1930 in Marietta, Ill., the daughter of Leo and Leila Renaeu Chenoweth. She graduated from Macomb High School. She married Duane E. "Stoney" Stoneking on June 24, 1951 in Burlington, Ia., he preceded her in death on December 28, 2000. Doris worked for a time at the Formfit and Smolers in Monmouth. She also worked at Sylvania and Winegards in Burlington, Ia. Doris and her husband were also camp ground hosts at the Delabar State Park in Oquawka. She liked to sew, garden, and spend time outdoors. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member and the past secretary of the Mississippi Valley Vintage Race Car Association. Doris is survived by her children, Vic Stoneking (Mary) of Oquawka, Ill., Janice Ator (Jerry) of Oquawka, and LeAnne Shafer (Mark) of Biggsville, Ill., and step daughter Carol Ann Neville of Apex, N.C. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Lana Forbes (Chad) of Oquawka, Ill., Dusty Hetrick (Dawn) of Oquawka, Ill., Dana Hetrick of Oquawka, Ill., Brennen Shafer of Biggsville, Ill., Jenna Shafer of Biggsville, Ill., Chris Ator of Tempe, Az., and Elisha Ator of Smithboro, Ga. Three great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Dicky Stoneking, one sister and two brothers. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Ill. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family will be present to receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Turnbulls in Oquawka. A memorial fund has been established for the Delabar Mississippi River Youth Park.
