Doris Green Vancil, age 94, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at 7:27 pm at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, on February 3, 2012. Doris was born August 12, 1917 in Oquawka, Illinois and is the daughter of George Glenn and Blanche Maude Ives Green. Doris was raised in Oquawka where she attended local schools and high school. She was married to Warren C. Vancil on September 14, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death in February 9, 1986. Doris was a homemaker in her own home and was a mother and grandmother to her family. She was employed several years at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa. She loved her yard and flowers and loved to watch the Cardinals and the birds. She was an avid St.Louis Cardinal fan and a member of the Oquawka Eagles Club. Surviving are two sons Gene (Joan) Vancil of Mesa, AZ and Terry (Anne) Vancil of Perry, IA. There are four grandchildren Susan, Heather, Holly, Katherine and five great grandchildren. Two brothers surviveGeorge (Alice) Green of Sun City, FL and Charles Ruberg of Oqauawka, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers. Services:Cremation has been accorded. A visitation is planned Friday with the family present from 2:00 to 3:00 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. An interment service for the committal of ashes at Oquawka Cemetery will be at 3:00 pm Memorial funds have been established for either Henderson County Bookmobile or the Great River Hospice House of West Burlington, IA.
