Dorothy M. Bennett

Dorothy M. Bennett, age 94, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois on Wednesday December 25, 2013 at 10:20 am. Dorothy was born on August 8, 1919 in Mt.Sterling, Illinois and is the daughter of Maine "Pete" and Edna Brown Perry. She was raised in Mt. Sterling where she attended local schools. She was married to Lawrence Bennett on December 9, 1946 in Monmouth, IL and he preceded her in death in October of 1963. Dorothy was employed at Western Stoneware and then at Formfit Company, both of Monmouth, Illinois. She then was employed at Admiral Corporation of Galesburg, IL until her retirement. Dorothy is a member of and very active in Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth, Illinois where she also served as a custodian. She also was a member and was active as a volunteer for Community Memorial Hospital of Monmouth, Illinois. She loved everyone and was very devoted to her family and her church family. Surviving are one daughter, Marsha (Terry) Neal of Monmouth, Illinois, and one son, Tony (Tammy) Bennett of Victoria, Illinois. There are eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren are surviving. Her sister Lucille Reische of Mt. Sterling, Illinois also survives. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one son, Larry, one grandson, Ryan, and one brother, Henry Perry. Services:A funeral service will be on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth. Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial fund is established for Immanuel Baptist Church.
