Dorothy M. Jacobs

Dorothy M. Jacobs, age 86, of Biggsville, passed away at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the Roseville Country Manor in Roseville, Ill. She was born on December 10, 1923 in Biggsville, Ill., the daughter of Arthur and Fern Stevenson Boyer. She was reared and educated in the Biggsville area, and graduated from Biggsville High School. She then attended the Burlington Beauty Academy in Burlington, Ia. Dorothy married Franklin Jacobs on November 17, 1946 in Biggsville. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2006. Dorothy was a hairdresser for nearly 60 years, owning her own beauty shop in Biggsville. She enjoyed traveling and genealogy. Surviving Dorothy is one brother, Ray Boyer (Darlene) of Biggsville, one sister, Pauline Hallberg (Milton) of State College, Pa. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters; Mary Frances Shafer and Annis Brewer. Services:A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Biggsville Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends and hour prior to the service at Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville. A memorial fund is being established for the Biggsville Methodist Church.
