Dorothy M. Joy

Dorothy M. Joy, age 93, of Keithsburg, Illinois passed away at 8:40 pm on December 22, 2012 at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo, Illinois. Dorothy was born on November 20, 1919 in Beatrice, Nebraska and is the daughter of Ardra and May Aylworth Fryer. She was reared and educated in Salem, Nebraska where she attended public schools and high school. Dorothy married Guy R. Joy on June 22, 1938 in Salem, Nebraska. He preceded her on May 12, 2000. Dorothy was a homemaker in her own home and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and like to do crafts. Dorothy is survived by two daughters Janet Tucker of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Judi Roberts of Keithsburg, Illinois. One son is surviving Richard and Susie Joy of Keithsburg, Illinois. There are six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. One sister is surviving, Evelyn Shaw of Joy, Illinois. There are also numerous nieces and nephews surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters. Services:A funeral service is planned on Friday December 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Her family plans visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 prior to the service on Friday with the family present. Interment will be in the Greenmound Cemetery in Keithsburg, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established.
