Dorothy E. Lubke, age 89, of Gladstone, Illinois passed away at 5:15 pm on September 30, 2012 at the Klein Unit of Great River Medical Center in Burlington, Ia. Dorothy was born on August 31, 1923 in Biggsville, Ill., and is the daughter of Ernest and Mary Blanche Meyers Boyd. She was reared and educated in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School in 1941. Dorothy later earned her degree as an LPN in 1966. She married Lyle L. Lubke in January 14, 1942 in Burlington, Ia, he preceded her in death on November 2, 1997. Dorothy worked as an LPN at Mercy, Burlington, and Klein Hospitals. Later she was employed by the State of Illinois as a hearing and vision technician. Dorothy also worked for a time at the Henderson County Health Department. She was a member of the Senior Citizens at Gladstone, Rebekahs, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Red Cross volunteer, and the Humane Society. Dorothy is survived by two sons; Larry L. Lubke (Marge) of French Settlement, La., Ronald K. Lubke of Stanford, Ill., two daughters; Joan E. Humphrey (Dave) of Oquawka, Ill., and Marilee S. Hays (William) of Oquawka, Ill. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 28 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 brothers. Services:A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., October 4, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville, Ill.. Her family will be present to receive friends from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Ia. A memorial fund has been established for the Klein Center in Burlington, Ia. or to a charity of the donors choice. Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville is in charge of the arrangements.
