Dorothy M. Smith

Dorothy M. Smith, age 85, of Little York, Ill., passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009, at the Aledo Health and Rehab Nursing Home in Aledo, Ill. Dorothy was born on April 17, 1923, in Mercer County, Ill., the daughter of Leroy and Sylvia Kell. She was raised in rural Mercer County and attended rural schools. Dorothy married Donald D. Smith on December 19, 1945 in Monmouth, Ill. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2005. Dorothy was a homemaker in her own home and a farmer's wife. She was of the Presbyterian faith. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting and sewing. For a time she helped at the restaurant in Little York. A number of relatives survive. She is precede in death by her parents, husband, one brother Howard Kell and one sister Ruth Deming. Services:A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Ill. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Dorothy's family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, from 10:00 to 11:00 at Turnbull's. A memorial fund is being established for Hamlet Presbyterian Church in Hamlet, Ill.
