Dorothy E. Vantine

Dorothy E. VanTine, Age 82, of Gladstone, Illinois, Passed away at 3:17 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Dorothy, soon to be 83, was born on December 16, 1925 in Gladstone, Illinois. She is the daughter of Harold G. and Marjorie M. Snodgrass Galbraith. Dorothy attended school in Gladstone, graduating from the eighth grade. She then graduated from Biggsville High School in 1943. She then attended one year of college at the College of Commerce in Burlington, Iowa. Dorothy married Gerald VanTine on March 5, 1947 in the Biggsville Untied Presbyterian Church parsonage. He survives. Dorothy was a member of the Gladstone United Methodist Church. She was the church pianist and organist for many years. Dorothy also taught Sunday school for ten years. She worked as a secretary at the Burlington Railway & Light for four years. Dorothy was a homemaker. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Dorothy is survived by her husband Gerald VanTine of Gladstone, two sons; Roger VanTine and Penny of Gladstone, and Jerry VanTine and Sue of Gladstone. Four Grandchildren; Jessica Wandless, Grant VanTine, Rebecca VanTine, and Shannon VanTine. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Services:A Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 31, 2008, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville, Illinois. Interment will be in Biggsville Cemetery. No calling hours are planned. A memorial fund is being established for Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst or the Gladstone United Methodist Church.
