Dorothy J. Youngblood, age 79, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, IL on March 14, 2008 at 8:30 pm. Dorothy was born August 16, 1928 in Oregon, Illinois and is the daughter of Alva C. and Ella Mae Dyer Richards. She was reared and educated in Pine Creek Township near Mt.Morris, Illinois and graduated from Mount Morris High School. She then completed the Katherine Shaw Bethea School of Nursing in Dixon, Illinois where she received her nurse's degree. She married Ansel Royal Youngblood on March 27, 1950 in Dixon, Illinois. He preceded her on December 14, 1984. Dorothy was a registered nurse and a member of the Illinois Nurses Association. She began her nursing at Monmouth Hospital and then with Community Memorial Hospital and had a 32 year career retiring in 1993. Dorothy was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Monmouth and currently is a member of First Christian Church. In earlier years she was most active in both Cub and Boy Scouting for her sons and grandsons. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking. Surviving Dorothy is one daughter, Teddi L. Galbreath and Ron of Monmouth, IL. Three sons; A. Kim Youngblood and Patricia of Schaumburg, Illinois; Gary L. Youngblood and Pam of Monmouth, Illinois; and Dean L. Youngblood and Mary of Galesburg, Illinois There are nine Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren surviving. Two Sisters; Shirley Smith of Cedarville, Illinois; and Jean Harrenstein of Phoenix, Arizona. One Brother, William Glover & Sue of Dixon, Illinois. A number of other relatives also survive. Preceding her in death are her parents, Husband, and One Sister. Services:A Funeral Service for Dorothy will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday March 19, 2008 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Dixon, Illinois. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbulls on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorial funds have been established for either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
