Dortha A. Tomlin, Age 53, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 9:27 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2009, at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was born on June 26, 1956, in Alma, Michigan, the daughter of Arden D. and Edith Ann Kheen Throop. Dortha was reared and educated in Michigan and Ohio, and graduated from High School in 1974 in Holland, Ohio. She married Michael D. Tomlin on December 20, 1980, in Maumee, Ohio, he survives. Dortha was a homemaker, and taking care of her family and friends was always her top priority. For a time she was a playground supervisor at Lincoln Elementary School in Monmouth. Dortha enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, sitting on her front porch, and most of all, enjoyed getting the whole family together, and seeing all her grandchildren. Dortha always put others before herself, and enjoyed taking care of numerous family members. She enjoyed shopping for bargains and always found the best deals. Surviving Dortha is her husband Michael Tomlin of Monmouth, one son, Bentley Tomlin of Fayetteville, Arkansas, two daughters, Edith Tomlin and Fiance Trevor Davies of Monmouth, and Brenda Sage and Doug of Cameron, Illinois. Four grandchildren; Michael Johnson, Katelyn Burk, Courtney Sage all of Cameron, and Carson Tomlin of Monmouth. One brother, Allen Throop and Cheryl of Edmore, Michigan, two sisters; Shirley Finch and Tom of Madison, Alabama, Betty Jo Leach and Bill of Florida. Also surviving is her step father Chuck Pringle and Joyce of Lebanon, Oregon, mother-in-law Dixie Tomlin of Monmouth, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends all around the country. She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Larry Tomlin. Services:A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Her family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 p.m. on Thursday until the time of the service at 3 p.m. at Turnbull's. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
