Dwight E. Bird, age 69, of Monmouth; passed away at 3:56 pm at his Lake Warren residence on Sunday Dec.17, 2012. Dwight was born on June 12, 1934 in the rural Monmouth area and is the son of Orus Thomas and Beulah Edell Nelson Bird. Dwight was raised in Galesburg where he attended public schools and graduated from Galesburg High School with the class of 1952. Dwight married Maxine Reischling on October 18, 1963 in Monmouth, Illinois and she is surviving. Dwight first worked at OMC Gale Products where he worked for thirty years in maintenance. He then was employed by Winnefred Zay at Torley Hardware of Monmouth for several years. He then was employed by Munson Transportation as an over the road driver for a number of years. Lastly he drove for Twomey Company based out of Little York, Illinois until his retirement. Dwight has always been most involved in the activities of the Class of 1952. He enjoyed traveling and woodworking, building cabinets and many things in general. Generally he liked fixing and repairing anything at hand. He enjoyed working out of doors. Dwight is survived by his wife, Maxine of Lake Warren, daughter Sarah (Jerry) Johnson of Green Valley, Illinois; sons Wesley Bird of Monmouth, Illinois and Tim (Darlene) Bird of St. Charles, Missouri. Also surviving is one daughter in law, Meleia Bird of Monmouth, Illinois, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and his sister Bernice Livingston of Galesburg, Illinois A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Cleo. Services:He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Cleo. Cremation has been accorded, and a visitation and service is planned on Wednesday evening at Turnbull Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A memorial fund is being established by his family
