E. Ralph Haar, age 82, of Peoria, Illinois formerly of the Monmouth area, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Ralph was born on November 8, 1925, in Tupolo, Iowa, the son of John and Gertrude (Clark) Haar. He was raised in the Monmouth area and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1943. He married Margaret L. Welch on May 26, 1946, in Monmouth, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2002. After High school, Ralph entered into the United States Army during World War II where he served as a Field Medic. Ralph was a farmer in the Monmouth and Greeenbush area for 48 years. Ralph liked gardening, reading and playing croquet. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Bushnell VFW. Upon retiring he moved to Galesburg and worked part-time at Farmland Foods in Monmouth and later at Maytag in Galesburg. He is survived by one son Donald Haar & Linda of Mapleton, Illinois, one daughter Christine Musava & William, four grandchildren, Angela and Aaron Haar and Brian and Richard Braden. Also surviving is one brother Virgil Haar of Monmouth. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother Charles Haar. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2008, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment with military honors will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. His family will be present to receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday July 20. A memorial fund is being established for University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria Pathology Department or University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria Rural Students Physician Program (RSPR).
