Earlie L. Boggan, Jr., age 71, of Galesburg, Ill., passed away at 6:40 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Marigold Rehab & Health Care Center in Galesburg. Earlie was born on June 14, 1940 in Chapman, Al., he is the son of Earlie L. Sr. and Inez Stinson Boggan. He was reared and educated in Alabama and attended school in Georgiana. Earlie served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. He married Judith Ann Peoples on July 25, 1972 in Davenport, Ia., she preceded him in death on June 5, 2007. Earlie worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 37 years, until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, going to the boat, wood crafting, and spending time with his grandchildren. Earlie is survived by two sons; Perry Boggan of Galesburg, Ill., Tyrell Boggan of Galesburg, Ill., one daughter Tiffany Boggan-Cruz (Alberto) of Buford, Ga., and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Mildred Williams of Temple, Tx., and Valeria Griffen of Carrier Mills, Ill., three brothers; Eugene Boggan of Galesburg, Ill., Charles Boggan of Georgiana, Al., and Nathaniel Boggan of Georgiana, Al. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister Edna Taylor. Services:A funeral service with Military Honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Cremation will be accorded following the service. His family will be present to receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society.
