Eddie D. Collier, age 70, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 6:15 A.M. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his residence in Oquawka. He was born February 8, 1947 in Glenwood, Missouri, the son of J.W. Paul Reaves and Betty Louise Collier. Eddie attended school in Ottumwa, Iowa, where he graduated from the Ottumwa High School with the Class of 1966. He proudly served his Country with the United States Army in Vietnam. on September 10, 1977, Eddie married Beverly Nelson in the Gladstone United Methodist Church and she is surviving. He was employed for 28 years as a Deputy Sheriff for the Henderson County Sheriffs Department. Eddie also loved to bowl at Country Fun in Biggsville and Roosevelt Lanes in Burlington, Iowa. He also coached baseball for Pee Wee, Little League, and Pony League. Ed also umpired high school baseball in the area for a number of years. Eddie enjoyed hunting rabbits and ducks. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Eddie is survived by his wife Beverly of Oquawka, IL, two sons; Brian Collier of Oquawka, IL and Jeffrey Collier of Burlington, IA, one sister, Becky Hobbs of Fairfield, IA, two brothers; Gene Reaves of Fremont, IA and Dennis (Linda) Reaves of Oquawka, IL. Also surviving are two special nieces; Rhiannon Reaves and Ashley Curtis as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jim. Visitation A visitation is planned from 9:30-11:00 prior to the service at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Funeral Service A graveside funeral service is planned for 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the Oquawka Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Henderson County Health Department Hospice.
