Edward O. Brill

Edward O. Brill, age 87, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, IL on January 11, 2011 at 12:05 am. He was born on July 18, 1923 in Stronghurst, IL the son of Lloyd H. and Nellie Shaw Brill. He was reared in Stronghurst, LaHarpe, Blandinsville, and Biggsville, IL. Edward served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1948. He married Delores F. Colley on February 5, 1950 in Burlington, Ia. and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2000. He later married Vivian M. Eagen on March 10, 2010 in Oquawka, Il., she survives. Edward farmed all his life in Hancock and Henderson counties. He also worked for a time at the Murray Iron Works in Burlington, IA and later as a meat cutter for AGAR in Monmouth. Lastly Ed worked for the City of Douglas, Arizona. Edward was passionate about collecting and recycling aluminum cans in and around Oquawka. Edward is survived by his wife Vivian M. Brill of Oquawka, two sons; David E. Brill (Linda) of Oquawka, John L. Brill (Debbie) of LaSalle Peru, IL, one daughter Stacey Link (Perry) of Oquawka. Their are ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and one son, Billy Joe. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. Interment with Military honors will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. His family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Henderson County Ambulance Service.
