Edward F. Lewis, age 89, passed away at 10:34 pm on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois. He was born on January 25, 1924, the son of Mathew and Louisa Veronica (Gerl) Lewis. Ed graduated from High School in Valers, Wisconsin and later attended school for meat cutting in Ohio. He served his country in the United States Navy. On December 5, 1951, Ed married Barbara Ann Brown in Keokuk, Iowa. He worked as a meat cutter for Benner Tea Company and Giant Foods retiring in 1993. Ed was a member of the Meat Cutters Union. He is survived by his wife Barbara, one son, Michael (Barbara) Lewis of Novato, California, one daughter, Patricia Kemmerer of Las Vegas, Nevada, one grandson, Jeremiah Kemmerer of Wisconsin, one brother Lloyd (Twila) Lewis of Omaha, Nebraska, and one sister, Anna Marie Zankle of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Ed was preceded in death by five brothers. Services:Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. The rosary will be prayed at 5:00 pm with a service to follow at 5:30. The family will be present to receive friends after the service. A memorial has been established for the Immaculate Conception School in Monmouth.
