Edwina Lane Thomas

Edwina Lane Thomas, age 59, of Monmouth, Illinois, died at 11:45 am on Monday, September 2, 2013 at her residence. Edwina was born on May 26, 1954 in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Donald and Gertrude (Edwards) Van Tine. She was raised in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1972. Edwina was previously married to Stephen Thomas. Edwina worked at Head Start in Monmouth from 1985 to 1994. She then was employed as a manager at Burger King in Monmouth from 1995 to 2008. Lastly she was employed as the Dietary Manager at Legacy Estates. Edwina enjoyed cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, one daughter, Jessica (Josh) Johnson, two sisters, Rhonda (Rusty) Spence and Linette VanTine, two granddaughters, Kirstin Thomas and Claire Johnson, one grandson, Cohen Ingersoll, a special friend, Mike Widener, one niece, Ashley (Eric) Hobbs, and one great nephew, Hayden Hobbs. Edwina was proceeded in death by her father, Donald Van Tine and grandparents, Homer and Helen Van Tine, Richard and Alice Edwards. Services:A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am, Friday, September 6, 2013 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. The family plans to receive friends from 10:00-11:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. A memorial fund has been established for her grandchildren's education.
