Eileen "Kelly" M. Sutherland

Kelly was born October 3, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Simon and Gwendolyn Rose (Beisswanger) Kieltyka. She married Charles Fish Sutherland III on May 22, 1971, in Creston, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2003. She later shared her life with her partner, Frank Vazzano, until his death in 2021.

Kelly worked as a bartender for over 35 years, many of them in Galesburg. She never knew a stranger and was a friend to everyone. She enjoyed reading, working on word puzzles, and watching movies. Kelly and her husband also loved to travel and spent many memorable miles together riding their motorcycle. Their travels took them throughout the country, including California, South Dakota, and Colorado—wherever the bike would take them.

In accordance with Kelly’s wishes, her body will be donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Kevin Wynkoop for being such a great friend and neighbor to their mother for all of these years.
