Eleanor M. Bailey

Eleanor M. "Grandma" Bailey, age 88, of Gladstone, Illinois passed away at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa on Sunday July 5, 2015 at 11:25 am. She was born on June 17, 1927 in Tiskilwa, Illinois and is the daughter of Ernest Theodore and Marian Alberta Gingery Borg. She was raised in Tiskilwa and at the age of 13 the family moved to a farm near Gladstone in Henderson County. She attended the local schools there in Gladstone and graduated from the Biggsville High School. Eleanor was married to Edward "Stub" Bailey on October 5, 1945 in Gladstone, Illinois and he passed away on September 20, 2005. She assisted her husband in the work on their farm and was a devoted farm wife to her husband and mother to her children. She also was a cook at the Gladstone Grade School for many years. She loved cooking for her family, canning with her husband, spending time with her friends and family and helping with chores around the farm. Grandma was one to always put someone else before herself. She is survived by one daughter, Jeanette (Robert) Randall of Biggsville, IL and one son Wayne (Sandra) Bailey of Columbia, MO. There are four grandchildren, Brian (Amanda) Randall of Gladstone, IL; Heather (Brad) Hinshaw of Oquawka, IL; Kyle Bailey of Covington, IN; and Travis Bailey of Arvada., CO. There are three great grandchildren, Curtis Randall and Rebecca and Lauren Hinshaw. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Friday July 10, 2015 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Her family plans visitation on Thursday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm receiving friends at the Turnbull Funeral Home. Interment of her ashes will be at a later date. A memorial fund is being established for either the Gladstone Ambulance Service or the Great River Hospice House.
