Eleanor L. Gilmore

Eleanor L. Gilmore, age 92, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 4:30 pm at OSF St.Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, IL. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 4:30 pm. She was born on April 17, 1923 in Sunbeam, Illinois and was reared and educated in the area schools where she attended Belmont Grade School and graduated from Little York High School with the class of 1941. Eleanor married John W. Gilmore on January 25, 1942 in Alexis, Illinois and he passed away on May 25, 1993. She first was employed at Holcomb Studios in Galesburg, Illinois and then worked for a time at Gale Products in Galesburg. Lastly she served the U.S. Army in Civil Service in Canada for a time. Eleanor was a skilled needle artist who designed many of her own patterns. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, and crafts. She is survived by her adopted daughter, Gale L. Gilmore of Monmouth, Illinois and one sister, Beulah Hood Collins of Galesburg, Illinois. Also a number of nieces and nephews are surviving. Visitation A visitation is planned as the family will receive their friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL. Funeral Service A funeral service for Eleanor is planned for Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 10:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial funds are being established for either the Strom Center or First Christian Church, both in Monmouth.
