Elizabeth E. Schroeder, age 96 of Monmouth, passed away at 10:37 p.m., July 10, 2010 at the OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. She was born on October 10, 1913 in Gerlaw, Ill., the daughter of John l. and Bertha O. Rexroth Eyler. She was reared and educated in Gerlaw to the 3rd grade when her family moved to Ponemah, where she finished her elementary schooling. She was a graduate of Monmouth High School Class of 1932. Elizabeth married Emory A. Schroeder on July 12, 1939 in Monmouth, he preceded her in death on September 22, 1982. She first served for 11 years as the secretary at the First Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. She then was a general legal secretary for Clendenin, Burkhard, and Butler, and worked for them until retiring in 1979. Elizabeth was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church, there she was a member of the choir. She was a 70 year member of the Mildred Warner Washington Chapter of D.A.R., the woman's association of Faith United Presbyterian Church, a former member of the B.P.W. and was a member of the OSF Holy Family ladies Auxiliary. Elizabeth loved to garden, sew, cook, bake, play cards, and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very loving person. Surviving Elizabeth are two daughters, Evelyn Carlson (Ray) and Linda White (Gary) both of Lake Warren, Ill. Seven grandchildren, Rod Farm of Clovis, Ca., Brenda Farm of Bettendorf, Ia., Robin Randolph of Monmouth, Lori McDowell (Scott) of Woodhull, Ill., Doug Farm of Iowa City, Ia., Erik Carlson (Kristen) of Fresno, Ca., and Christopher Carlson (Ann Marie) of Salisbury, Ma. Eleven great grandchildren, Sgt. David Randolph (Jan) is currently serving in the United States Marine Corp in Afghanistan, Jenna Randolph of Biloxi, Ms., Hayley McDowell, Emily McDowell, and Allison McDowell all of Woodhull, Ill., Courtney Farm of Clovis, Ca, Kenny Carlson, Hannah Carlson, Sarah Carlson and Rachel Carlson all of Fresno, Ca., and Brennan Carlson of Salisbury, Ma. Also surviving is one sister, Mildred Hunter of Rushville, Ill., two sister-in-laws, Glennis Eyler of Monmouth and Doris Eyler of Naples, Fl. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Kay Howard, one grandson, six brothers, two sisters and two sons-in-law Ray Carlson and Jim Howard. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Turnbulls in Monmouth, where her family will be present to receive friends. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Faith United Presbyterian Church, Monmouth Nursing Home, or the D.A.R.
