Elizabeth L. "Betty" Seymour, age 85, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at 10:33 pm at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois on Friday evening April 4, 2014. Betty was born on November 2, 1928 in Kirksville, Missouri and is the daughter of Charles L. and Ruth Irene Daugherity Noble. She was reared and educated in Kirksville, Missouri and Ames, Iowa. Betty attended and graduated from Biggsville High School with the class of 1948. She married Robert L. Seymour on June 20, 1948 in Biggsville, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 29, 2001. Betty started her teaching in the one room rural Stone School near Gladstone, IL. She later worked for the ASC office in Biggsville, followed by secretary for the Regional Office of Superintendent of Schools for Warren and Henderson counties. Betty was a long time member of the Biggsville community and served in numerous capacities over the years on: Henderson County Health Board, Henderson county Library Board, Home Extension, Biggsville Community Club, 4H Leader, Monmouth Hospital Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. She was a member of the Biggsville United Methodist Church. Over the years she enjoyed traveling with her children, quilting, oil painting, reading and spending time with the grandchildren. Surviving are five children: Cynthia (Phil Andersen) Seymour of Poland, Maine, Diana (Gail) Russell of Biggsville, IL., Kent (Laurie) Seymour of Normal, IL., Penny (Roger) Van Tine of Gladstone, IL., and Sandra (Wayne) Bailey of Columbia, Missouri. Also surviving are nine devoted grandchildren, Shelly (Jeff) Anastasio, Brad (Teresa) Russell, Eric Seymour, Kelly (Matt) Blecha, Jessica (Kevin) Wandless, Grant (Nicole) Van Tine, Rebecca Van Tine, Kyle Bailey and Travis Bailey. There are five great grandchildren surviving, Brayden and Brennan Anastasio and Mia and Noah Van Tine, and Luke Wandless. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two great grandchildren. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Biggsville United Methodist Church in Biggsville, Illinois. Her family plans visitation with the family present receiving friends at the church from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening. Interment will be in the Biggsville Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established for either the Henderson County Library or the United Methodist Church of Biggsville, Illinois.
