Emetine E. Henderson, age 93, of Galesburg, Illinois; passed away at 9:52 am on Wednesday January 8th at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Emetine was born January 19, 1919 in Clarksville, Texas and is the daughter of Sally Hailey Chambers. Emetine was raised in Clarksville, Texas where she was educated in public schools and high school. She then attended college for a time. She was married to Kenneth F. Henderson on August 30, 1938 in Clarksville, Texas and came to Illinois and the Galesburg area. He passed away on December 19, 1997. Emetine was first employed by the State of Illinois as an Occupational Therapist. She later worked in the Circulation Department of the library at Knox College for a number of years. Emetine was a member of Allen Chapel of the AME in Galesburg, where she served as supervisor of the Sunday School and held the office of Deaconess. In earlier years she was a Girl Scout Leader. She always lived to support of her husband and family. She is suvived by one daughter Vicki McCord of Galesburg, Illinois and one son Kenneth (Susan) Henderson Jr. of Oakton, Virginia. There are three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be on Monday February 13, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois with interment in the Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home on Monday for the hour prior to the funeral service 9:00 to 10:00 am. A memorial fund is being established for the Knox College Choir.
