Emily Jaqlyn Rose Speer, age 18, of Solsberry, Indiana, passed away on November 8, 2014. Emily was born on December 8, 1995 in Bloomington, Indiana, the daughter of Dan and Deb (Thorman) Speer. She graduated from Eastern Greene County High School, Bloomington, Indiana in the spring of 2014. Emily was an accomplished artist, played violin in the orchestra (where she won the US Marine Corps excellence in music award), and was a member of the National Honor Society and scrabble club. She was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Emily was involved in SCA activities with her family and swing dance. She was enrolled in Ivy Teck culinary arts program. She was also a sales associate at Kohls. Emily is survived by her parents of Sosberry; paternal grandparents, Richard and Jan Speer of Monmouth, Illinois; brother, Bill Trudell of East Moline, Illinois; sister, Jessica Trudell of Cambridge, Mass.; aunts Ilene Thorman Danforth of Woodbride, Va., Deb (Larry) Lawson of Princeton; uncle David (Ann) Speer of Melbourne, Fl.; five cousins and their families, and boyfriend of many years, Lynn Dean Thomas III of Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Jack and Alice Thorman of Davenport. Services:A memorial service will be held locally at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Her family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 before the service.
