Ervin F. Torrance, age 59, of Gladstone, Illinois; passed away at 7:00 pm at the Pekin Medical Center in Pekin, Illinois on October 15, 2013. Ervin was born on March 24, 1954 in LaHarpe, Illinois and is the son of John Franklin "Frank" and Helen J. Russell Torrance. He was raised in Gladstone, Illinois where he attended local schools and Union High School where he was a graduate of the class off 1972. He then attended and graduated from Carl Sandburg College with an Associate Degree in Agriculture.He married Angela "Angie" Thye on July 31,1993 at the United Methodist Church in Biggsville,Illinois and she survives, He began work at Firestone Tire Company in Burlington, IA. and also farmed part-time with Shelby Romine on the farm. He then became partners with his brothers on the farm and farmed for most of his career. He is a member of FFA and collects farm toys and tractors. He is an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls fan and attended the Biggsville United Methodist Church. Ervin has been a member of the Gladstone Gulfport volunteer fire department and has served as it's Treasurer. He is survived by his wife, Angie Torrance, two daughters, Felicia K.Torrance and Kelsie N. Torrance (Marshall Thomas) both of Biggsville, IL and one granddaughter, Kaprie C. Thomas also of Biggsville, Illinois. He is also survived by his mother Helen J. Torrance of Gladstone, and sister Jane Torrance of Normal,Illinois, and three brothers, Michael(Frances) Torrance of Gladstone,IL, Russell (Connie Sue) Torrance of Gladstone,Illinois, and Mark (Leanne) Torrance of Biggsville,Illinois as well as six nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded by his father Frank and his grandparents. Services:A funeral service will be on Saturday October 19, 2013 at Turnbull Funeral home in Oquawka, Illinois. A visitation is planned by his family being present at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Cremation will be accorded following the service. A memorial fund is being established for either the Gladstone Gulfport Fire Department or the Gladstone United Methodist Church.
