Ethel E. Meyer, age 94, of Rozetta, passed away at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, on May 29, 2013. Ethel was born May 17, 1919 in Mendon, Illinois, the daughter of William Thomas and Elizabeth Catherine (Swunk) Cantrell. She was educated in Mendon schools and graduated from Mendon High School in 1937. She married Van William Meyer on December 16, 1937 in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1984. Ethel's life was centered around her family and farm life. She loved helping Van on the farm and had numerous hobbies and interests including antiques and oil painting. Much of her later life was spent becoming an accomplished and prolific artist. Ethel is survived by her daughter, Barbara E. (Thomas) Burnside of St.Louis, MO and her son, Gary V. (Barbara) Meyer of Rozetta; four grandchildren, Anna C. (Ron) Pounds of Greensburg, PA; Mark V. Burnside of Wister, OK; Sean D. (Marci) Meyer of Rozetta, and Kelly R.(Gavin) Jones of Derby, England, and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers Donald Cantrell of Quincy, IL and Jerry Cantrell of Palmyra, MO. and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, one son, Gene Meyer, three sisters, and four brothers. Services:A funeral service will be at Rozetta Baptist Church on Monday June 3, 2013 at 11:00 am.Visitation will be on Monday at the Rozetta Baptist Church for the hour prior to the service, 10:00 am to 11:00 am Interment will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established for Reed Cemetery, the Henderson County Health Department, or the Biggsville Ambulance Service.
