Eva E. Darnell, age 89, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away on Sunday November 4, 2012 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.at 3:50 pm. Eva was born on March 9, 1923 in Quincy, Illinois and is the daughter of John Henry and Theresa Elizabeth Lier Stormer. She was raised in Quincy and attended local schools in Adams County. Eva was married to George V. Darnell on January 21, 1942 in Quincy, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1981. Eva was a homemaker in her own home, and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, IL. She is a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the "Mothers of Twins Club". She also loved to sing in the Immaculate Conception Chancel Choir of the church. Eva also worked in the Cafeterias for both Central Junior High School and Harding Elementary for many years. She loved her family, her church music, her gardening, reading, camping, and knitting. She is survived by four sons, Donald E.(Sharon Ann) Darnell and his twin, Ronald E.(Linda) Darnell, both of Kirkwood, IL, John D.Darnell of Gladstone, IL.,and Rick L. "Poodle" Darnell of Monmouth, IL. Three daughters, Sharon Jern of Oquawka, IL, Mary Sue Wells of Monmouth, IL and Carol Buster of Ft.Myers, FL. There are fifteen grandchildren and ninty-two great and great great grandchildren surviving. One sister, Dorothy Stormer and one brother Eugene Stormer, both of Monmouth, survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and one sister. Services:A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday November 9, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church of Monmouth, Illinois. A rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 5:00 pm. Her family will receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home following the Rosary on Thursday. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for either Immaculate Conception School or Great River Hospice House.
