Evelyn M. McCrery, 89, previously of Aledo, Illinois, but more recently living with her daughter in Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away at 8:15 p.m., March 16, 2008, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Evelyn was born on October 12, 1918, in Mercer County, North of Burgess. She is the daughter of Clem and Maude Fisher Rhoades. She was educated in the Monmouth public schools, graduating from Monmouth High School. After graduating, she worked in the accounting department at Surgeons in Monmouth. She married Earnest "Dale" McCrery on March 2, 1940 in Monmouth. Evelyn was a housewife while her husband managed the Standard Oil bulk plant in Alexis; they later farmed in the Alexis area and moved to Aledo in 1978, he preceded her in 1981. Evelyn was a member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed volunteer work at the Mercer County Hospital gift shop, spending time with her friends, cooking, but most important she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving Evelyn are her two sons; Stand McCrery of Aledo and James McCrery of Wagoner, Oklahoma, one daughter; Jane Moore of Battle Creek, MI, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, and one brother. Services:A graveside service for relatives and immediate family will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth from 10:00 a.m. till noon. Memorials may be made to the College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Aledo, Illinois
