Evelyn L. Thompson

Evelyn L Thompson, age 92, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 1:00 pm on Saturday February 16, 2019 at Roseville Rehab and Health Care Center. Evelyn was born on July 13, 1926 in Monmouth and is the daughter of John Thomas and Myrtle Anna Fink Beatty. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, where she attended Monmouth public schools and Monmouth High School. Evelyn was married to Solon "Bubby" Thompson on April 24, 1947 in Monmouth, he preceded her in death on May 17, 2010. Evelyn was a telephone operator of 18 years for General Telephone in Monmouth, IL. Evelyn was a homemaker in her own home, she enjoyed reading autobiographies and romance novels. Evelyn was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Whitman of Monmouth; and two grandsons, Tracy and Craig Whitman, both of Monmouth. Also surviving is one sister, Martha Martin of Green Castle, IN. and her special devoted friend Pat Parrish. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law Harry Whitman, and one sister in law. A graveside service is planned on Thursday, February 21st at 10:30 am at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at Turnbull Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday prior to the graveside service. A memorial fun is being established for Crohn's Disease.
