F. Gladys Bricker, age 99, of Monmouth, passed away at 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Roseville Country Manor in Roseville, Illinois. Gladys was born on November 8, 1908 in Olena, Illinois. She is the daughter of George Edwin and Ellen Mahala Black Lant. She was reared and educated in the Stronghurst area, she attended Marstan Grade School, and graduated from Stronghurst High School. She then attended Burlington School of Nursing, and received her RN certification. Gladys married Elbert James Bricker on June 21, 1933 in Alexis, Illinois. He preceded her in April of 1980. Gladys worked at the Burlington Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, Monmouth Hospital in Monmouth, and the Galesburg Research Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. She was a member of the Home Bureau in Henderson and Hancock Counties. She was a member of the Rozetta Baptist Church and its Woman's Guild. Gladys was always actively interested in her families activities and sporting events. "Aunt Glady" also loved to cook, and was known for her hot rolls. Surviving Gladys is one daughter, M. Linelle Goff of Monmouth, two sons; William E. Bricker of Monmouth, Alan L. Bricker and Linda of Monmouth, three grandsons; Frederick C. Bossert and Kim of Jacksonville, Florida, Jon M Bricker and Beth of Normal, Illinois, and Jacob Bricker of Monmouth. four granddaughters; Jana L. Bricker of Chicago, Illinois, Mannon L. Bricker of Monmouth, Jessie J. Bricker of Monmouth and Kelsey L. Bricker of Monmouth. Also surviving is one Great Grandson; Noah M. Bricker of Bloomington, Illinois, four nephews, and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Her family will be present to receive friends from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, May 26, 2008 at Turnbulls in Monmouth. Interment will be in Raritan Cemetery. Memorial funds are being established for the Rozetta Baptist Church or the Roseville Country Manor.
