Fairy E. (Mikel) Ditto

Fairy E. Ditto, age 84, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa on Monday, December 18, 2023. Fairy was born on October 25, 1939 in Aledo, Illinois and is the daughter of Herb and Mable Long Mikel.  She was raised in New Boston where she attended local schools and graduated from High School with the class of 1957. Fairy was previously married to Charles T. Ditto and her preceded her in death.

Fairy began work at Cannon Bronze Corporation in Aledo. She later was employed at Big River State Forrest in Keithsburg for a time. She then worked at the Grafton Greenhouse in Carman, Illinois until she worked at "Cheap Charlies " in Gladstone, Illinois. Fairy loved to go fishing and camping. She loved to work in her garden and did gardening. Fairy also raised and kept goats and loved to raise Beagle dogs.  She is survived by one son, Darrin Ditto in Oquawka, Illinois and has two sisters surviving, Sarah Jeffers and Ken in Cottonwood, Arizona and Carla Smith and Doug in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Her brother survives, Herb Mikel in Aledo, Illinois. She is preceded in her death by her parents and her husband.

As were her wishes, cremation is being accorded and no service or visitation is currently being planned. A celebration of her life may be planned at a later date. Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois is in charge of her care.
