Frances D. Allen

Frances Darlene Allen, 80, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 6:22 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Fran was born October 23, 1944 in Galesburg, the daughter of Samuel F. and June E. (Rickles) Larkins. She married Larry G. Allen, Sr. on June 19, 1963 in Galesburg, at the very place they met, Skate Palace Roller Rink.

Fran is survived by two sons, Larry G. (Stacy) Allen, Jr. of Camache, Iowa and Robert C. (Jennifer) Allen of Galesburg; one sister, Lillian E. Main of Knoxville, Illinois; and her dear friend, John “Geezer” Benjamin of Galesburg. Fran is also survived by her beloved ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Along with her parents, Fran was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Jo Allen; and three sisters, Ida Cauthon, Mary Jo Carl, and Sandra K. White.

Fran worked for many years at Hardee’s and Happ Joe’s in Galesburg. She attended Radiant Worship Church and loved to crochet. To know Fran was to know love. Her door was always open, She would give someone the shirt off her back; and loved to prepare a good meal. She was an avid reader and enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles. In her younger years, Fran loved to roller skate.

A memorial service for Frances will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Radiant Worship Center, 521 W. Losey St., Galesburg, Illinois. Pastor Mark Dexter will officiate. A luncheon and celebration of life will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Private family burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to a fund to be designated.
