Frances E. Gibson, age 88, of Monmouth, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Frances was born on August 7, 1920 in Monmouth. She is the daughter of Emmett Francis and Cora Elizabeth Webb Birditt. Frances was reared and educated in Monmouth, and attended Monmouth schools. She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1938. She then went on to attend Monmouth College. She married Earl Edmond Gibson on August 11, 1975 in Galesburg, he preceded her in October 8, 1992. Frances was first employed by Monnell Boats in Monmouth for a time. She then worked at Western Stoneware in Monmouth. Frances went to work at the Galesburg Research Hospital in Medical Records for twenty five years. She retired in 1985, and became a homemaker. Frances volunteered with the Community Medical Center Auxiliary and was a member of the Stars 55. She was a member of the Warren County Triad at Strom Center, and the Agnes Moody Club. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. Frances enjoyed playing cards with her friends and was a member of the Jolly 9 card club. She was an avid doll collector. Frances was an avid high school and college sports fan, and also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, White Sox, Bears, and Bulls games. Surviving Frances are two sons; Adrian D. Beverly (Arta) of Chicago, IL, and Troy M. Beverly of Coal Valley, IL. One daughter, Cynthia Beverly of Newport Beach, VA. Six grandchildren; Phillip Beverly of Chicago, Lori A. McKinney (Maurice) of Springfield, VA., Michael D. Kelley (Amy) of Monmouth, Dawn L. Beverly of Newport Beach, VA, Mathew J. Beverly of Monmouth, and Trent M. Beverly of Monmouth. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, and two brothers, Richard and Charles Birditt. Services:A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Her family will be present to receive friends Monday evening following the Rosary at 6:45 p.m.. A memorial fund has been established for the Athletic Fund at Immaculate Conception School or Strom Center of Monmouth.
