Frank W. Queen, age 73, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 8:16 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. On September 22, 1936, Frank was born in DuQuion, Ill., the son of Charles Jackson and Pearl Violet Queen. He moved to the Monmouth area as a teen, and attended Monmouth High School. On December 22, 1962, Frank married Dorothy M. Morgan in DuQuion, Ill. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2007. Frank served in the United States Air force overseas. Upon returning home from the service, he worked as a farm hand for local farmers. Frank then went to work as a finish carpenter, and at Western Stoneware in Monmouth. He then went back to farming for a time before he and his wife opened Queens Cafe in Kirkwood. Lastly he was an owner / operator semi truck driver until he retired. Surviving Frank are two daughters; Connie Dickerson (James) of Galesburg, Ill. and Rose Queen of Monmouth. One son, Willis Queen (Wendi) of Galesburg, Ill., Four grandchildren; David, Pete, Luke, and Daniel. Two great grandchildren; Mathew and Justin. Also surviving is one sister, Mary Valentin of Monmouth, one brother, George Queen of Sherwood, AR., special friend, Mabel Melvin of Monmouth, ten nieces and nephews, and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, two sisters Roberta Louise Queen, Lula May Queen, four brothers; Alvie Queen, Tomas Queen, Jim Queen, and Charles "Babe" Queen. Services:A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial fund is being established.
