Franklin E. Brokaw, age 79, of Rozetta, Illinois passed away at his residence on Saturday February 4, 2012 at 4:50 pm Frank was born on December 23, 1932 in Canton, Illinois and is the son of Chester O. and Mabel I. Hoerntlein Brokaw. Frank's early years were in Stronghurst. He was educated in Stronghurst, Biggsville, and Oquawka and graduated from Biggsville High School in 1951. Franklin enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1953 and served until 1957. He first was married to Marjorie Elaine Dixon on May 20, 1953 in Oquawka, and she preceded him on March 30, 1997. He later married Nancy Cooper on November 7, 1998 in Rozetta, and she is surviving. Frank has been a Henderson county farmer in grain and livestock all of his life. He is an active member of Rozetta Baptist Church and has served the church as a Deacon and Trustee and served on many of it's committees. Frank served on the board of Union School District #115, was currently board president of Rozetta Cemetery, and a former member of Biggsville Lions Club and Biggsville American Legion. He also served as the president of the Henderson County Zoning Board of Appeals. He enjoyed wood working, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and vacationing in Estes Park, Colorado. He is survived by his wife Nancy Brokaw of Rozetta, Illinois; children, Debra Brokaw of Galesburg, IL, David ( Lisa ) Brokaw of Biggsville, IL, Denise (Kenny Dixon) of Burlington, IA, Scott (Betsy) Cooper of Gladstone, IL, Mark (Laurie) Cooper of Iola, KS, and Tom Cooper of Oquawka, IL. Grandchildren, Brooke (Joe) Gevock, Brandon (Ashley) Priesman, Tyler Brokaw, Garrett Brokaw, Derrick (fiance' Lindsey Fickel) Dixon, Sarah (Rip) Secory, Chris and Madeline Cooper, and Cassie, Jacob, and Ben Cooper. Great Grandchildren, Brenley and Beckam Priesman and Piper Gevock. Frank's sister Dorothy Davis of Iowa City, IA and brother Dean (Nancy) Ricketts of Oquawka, IL. Preceding him in death are his parents, one daughter Dana Lynn, one brother Charles Ricketts, and a sister Joyce Ricketts. Services:A funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Rozetta Baptist Church at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Rozetta Cemetery. His family plans visitation with his family present at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening to receive friends. Memorial funds have been established for Rozetta Baptist Church or Biggsville Ambulance Service or Hospice Compasses. Turnbull Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
