Gary R. Mccoy

Gary R. McCoy, age 68, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Mt. Home, Arkansas. He was born on March 21, 1948 Henderson County, Illinois the son of Chester Raymond and Lois Evelyn (Bridges) McCoy. Gary attended Union High School and graduated with the Class of 1966. Gary was previously married to Vickie Sue Shipley. On December 31, 1997, he married Marjorie L. Carter in Oquawka, Illinois and she is surviving. Gary was previously married to Vickie Sue Shipley. Gary began work at Otis Elevator. He worked for a time in road construction. Gary then worked as a welder and later a fork truck driver at J.I. Case in Burlington, Iowa, retiring after 37 years of employment. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved collecting coins. Gary is survived by his wife Marjorie of Monmouth, IL, one daughter, Robin (Robert) Harris of Mountain Home, AR, two sons, Robert (Angel) McCoy of Mountain Home, AR and Brian (Jamie) McCoy of Springfield, IL, six grandchildren, and two sisters, Barbara (Jim) Howell of Brooksville, FL and Jeannette (Larry) Pence of Lomax, IL. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Betty Thorndike, Shirley Darnell, and Bonnie McCoy. Visitation His family plans to receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will follow the service at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for Western Illinois Animal Rescue.
