Gary R. Wilkins

Gary R. Wilkins, age 53, of Cameron, Ill., passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at his residence. Gary was born on October 23, 1956 in Galesburg, Ill., the son of Rollin W. and Lee Link Wilkins. Gary was raised in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1975. On July 7, 1990 Gary married Lisa West in Cameron. She survives. Gary employment included Monmouth Pottery from 1980 - 1994, Maytag in Galesburg 1997-2004 and Cameron Grain from 2006 - 2009. Gary was a member of the Oquawka Eagles Club and the Machinist Union. Surviving Gary is his wife Lisa Wilkins of Cameron, one daughter, Jennifer (Danny) Pine of Troy, Mo., four sons, Gary "J.R." (Christy) Wilkins, Jr. of Louisana, Mo., Joe (Stefany) West of Monmouth, Ill., Josh Wilkins and Billy Wilkins at home, eight grandchildren, 10 nieces and 6 nephews. Also surviving are his mother Lee (William) Strohmaier of Oquawka, Ill., eight sisters, Karen Whited of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Cheryl (Mike) Ferguson of Galesburg, Ill.; Sharon Wilkins of Sarasota, Florida; Linda (Dale) Steward of Woodhull, Ill.; Brenda (Fred) Stewart of Oquawka; Pamela (Jay) Lytle of Knoxville, Ill.; Cheryl Jones of Henderson, Ill.; Lori (Roger) Eklund of Knoxville, and two brothers Matthew Wilkins of Woodhull and Bruce (Brenda) Strohmaier of Gray Hawk, Kentucky. Preceding him in death are his father, grandparents, and granddaughter Angel West Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Gary's family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6 at Turnbull's. Interment will be in Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron. A memorial is being established.
