Gene Gilmour

Gene Gilmour, age 66, of Oquawka, Illinois, died at 12:20 a.m., Friday, October 31, 2008 at his home. Gene was born on March 3, 1942 in Oquawka. He is the son of Ross and Ruby Gilmour. Gene attended Oquawka Grade School and G & O High School. Gene first married Mary Tharp on March 16, 1961 in Rozetta, IL, he then later married Mary Ann Terrill on December 31, 2002 in Keithsburg. She is surviving. In his early years, Gene, worked at "Gale " Products in Galesburg and later at Caterpillar in Mt. Joy, Iowa The last thirty-five years, Gene, worked in the Masonry restoration and painting business as a salesman and estimator. Gene's hobbies included NASCAR, racing with his sons and grandsons in different classes of cars, working on old cars, and hot rods. One of his main hobbies was Gilmours Auto Sales with his family, and visiting with friends that stopped by the car lot. Gene is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Oquawka, daughter Theresa Pritchett of Oquawka, Sons; Jeff Gilmour and Shawn of Keithsburg, and Tim Gilmour and Chasity of Keithsburg, Illinois. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, one sister, Sherry Rehn and Robert of Monmouth, Illinois, Stepchildren; Tammy Jackson and Kenny of Seaton, Illinois, Terry Crossley of Portland, Oregon, Toni Velky and Butch of Swisher, Iowa, Tonya Cochran of Galesburg, Illinois, eight step grandchildren, three great step grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one step granddaughter. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2008, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. Interment will be in Oquawka Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday at Turnbulls in Oquawka, where his family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A memorial fund is being established for Community Hospices
